Sometimes, a plugin in your WordPress website will auto-update itself and/or encounter an issue. This can lead to issues with the website functioning correctly or you being able to log in to the Dashboard (/backend) of the website. If this is the case, you will need to disable the plugin to be able to access the Dashboard to resolve the issue (remove/disable/upgrade plugin).
In order to disable a WordPress plugin without access to the WordPress Dashboard, you will need to log in to your cPanel control panel. You can do this using the details sent out in your Hosting Account Welcome email. If you do not have a copy of these login details, please let our team know and they will be happy to assist.
Once logged in, navigate to the Files section and click on File Manager icon. From here, go to your WordPress website directory root, which is generally the public_html directory. Navigate to
the wp-content/plugins folder and find the plugin you need to disable. You can simply rename the plugin folder and save the changes. But make sure to remember the initial name of the plugin folder in case you need rename it back at some point.
If you’re not sure which plugin is causing the issue, you can disable all plugins using this method and then rename them one at a time until the issue re-occurs. This will let you identify the plugin causing the issue. In general, a reinstall will then resolve the issue.
